Zachary Edward Christman, Associate Artistic Director of Troupe Texas, began his professional career with Troupe Texas two years ago, working as a director and actor. As Associate Artistic Director, Zach oversees production operations and stage direction.
Zachary leads a busy life of producing theatre, directing, acting, and professional writing. A recent graduate of Texas State University - San Marcos, he was a University Honors student with a double major in Theatre and English.
During the past two years, Zach has developed, directed, and performed in several new works. At Texas State

, he produced and directed Brecht's
Baal as his thesis production in the Spring of 2009. He has recently performed a one-person drama,
Woyzeck Agonistes, and appeared as Rosse in
Macbeth, which he also directed. At Texas State University, he directed the new play,
History of America, performed a lead role in Adam Musil's new play,
The Sandbox, and served as stage manager for
@random productions; he also performed featured roles in
The Rocky Horror Show, A
bsurd Person Singular,
The Elephant Man, and
Hedda Gabler. Before transferring to Texas State, Zach studied acting at the University of Texas in Austin, where he was fight choreographer and lead performer in
Changuita Perla, a musical for children.
Prior to moving to central Texas from his home town of Lake Jackson, Zach was a featured performer at Brazosport Shakespeare in the Glen Summer Company, appearing in the roles of Puck in
A Midsummer Nights Dream, Lord in
The Taming of The Shrew, and the title role in
Romeo and Juliet. In 2005, he performed as Mozart in
Amadeus and Tranio in T
he Taming of the Shrew with Brazosport Centre Stages. He also narrated an educational media production for the Brazosport Independent School District.

With twelve years of training, Zach is an accredited teacher of martial arts: Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Shing I, Tai Chi, Ba Guah, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do and Liu Ho Bafa.
Now working in non-profit management and fund-raising, Zach serves on the boards of Texas-based non-profits, the Tri-M Foundation and The Performing Arts Foundation, and works as a grant writer and consultant with SDA, Incorporated and with Learning, Evaluation and Resources Network. Zach is also developing his skills as a creative writer; he has completed five plays and is currently working on two stage plays and a Shakespeare adaptation.
