New Works Forum

Troupe Texas presents a bi-weekly series of concert readings of new plays, short stories, and poetry, with occasional musical interludes. Theses workshop performances emphasize the dramatic aspects of storytelling and literature. Programs feature new works that can entertain and excite an audience through readings and presentations of dramatic scripts, short fiction, poetry, songs, and acoustic music.

Each program (of one to two hours in length) includes a feature presentation and ends with an audience "talk-back" discussion with the performers and writers. Some programs feature a full-length work; others feature shorter works with occasional interludes of songs, poems, and short anecdotes between the featured presentations.

If you have written scripts, prose fiction, songs, or poetry that is ready for a public presentation, please submit your work to the New Works Forum. Click on the instruction link below for the type of work you'll be submitting.

Scripts are distributed to the performers at least one week before the reading. Before each reading we have a short rehearsal for familiarization, adjustments, and timing.

We're always interested in hearing from stage managers, actors, script readers, and production assistants who can help put these programs together. We're also looking for a sound effect or "Foley" person who can help enliven these readings.

Royalties and performance fees are not paid for this workshop series, which is intended to allow writers and performers to develop their skills with new works through presentations and critiques.

Please e-mail us to indicate your interest; we'll include you on our New Works Forum list to receive information on our future presentations.
